Coco Chanel Obsession

I've been trying to post this for a while now...

There are a few movies coming out about Coco Chanel: Coco Avant Chanel starring Audrey Tatou and Chanel et Stravinsky, l'Histoire Secrete starring Anna Mouglalis. Here are some stills

Coco Avant Chanel is set to release May 2009. and Chanel et Stravinsky, l'Histoire Secrete has yet to set a release date.

I just finished up the quarter and one of the assignments was to create something based on a historic textile technique. I chose to research on Korean embroidery since I have always been attracted to the vibrant colors. Upon my research I learned that Korean as well as Vietnamese and Japanese embroidery was greatly influenced by Chinese embroidery. The one distinctive aspect of Korean embroidery I discovered was the "folk embroidery." Basically, it was everyday objects adorned with embroidery by common people, like pillows, handkerchiefs, pouches and socks.

This is what I made:

I embroidered the fabric with flowers first, sewed a circle, then cut it out.

Inside out...the back of the embroidery.

Right side out.

With the drawstring, and pulled to close.

Sexiest Night on Television

You know exactly what I'm talking about...The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show! I looooved it. The costumes were extremely creative and the different scenes were very distinctive. Along with the lovely ladies...Usher was also on stage (I'm in love with him again). "We ain't having sex, we're making moments..."

Hopefully one day I'll be able to work with people like amazing Charlotte Stockdale. I am extremely impressed and am inspired by her and Todd Thomas' creations. So now for the eye candy...

Wonder Girls

I recently discovered the Wonder Girls-a super hot South Korean girl band. Their style is ridiculous-I love it! I hope to one day be able to put looks like this together. It's cohesive but the girls still have their individual styles. Maybe I should look into moving to Asia-mainly Korean or Japan. But first, I have to break the language barrier..Or maybe they'll think I'm so fabulous it won't matter. Haha. I wish!

Wish List

The holidays are coming and it brings a warm feeling to my heart. Along with the holidays comes Christmas and with Christmas comes WISH LISTS! =) Well, here is my wish list, not just for Christmas, per say, it is more of a wish list FOR LIFE. If I ever come to own these beauties, my bag "collection" would be sincerely complete.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2005. I remember seeing this online and going to the store and drooling over it.

JJ Mag December 2008

YAYY!! I finally got around to getting another issue of JJ! I was surprised to see Nicole Richie on the cover at first but realized that she is definitely a good cover girl for JJ. I think she has a sweet low key style, often wearing scarves, sunglasses or other accessories to change up her look. I think Nicole is adorable and often look to her for inspiration. Here's a picture of the cover.

My first returns

I did my first returns a while back but did not have the chance to write about it. Hollie came over Saturday morning to drop off all the things she needed returned. There was a lot of stuff, so I had to carefully plan out my route to finish everything as efficiently as possible.
I headed out of the house around 11:30am, started out on Colorado in Pasadena, worked my way to Santa Anita, then to Sunset, next to the Beverly Center (where I thought I would be finished), and then finally to The Grove. I was carrying a lot things, part of the time in the rain, but mostly everything went over very smoothly. The part that took the longest was driving to the various locations to do all the returns. After The Grove, I headed to Hollie's place to give back all her things, around 6pm. After an exciting day of returns, I headed to a jam to see Tony dance. He's awesome, so I brought a slurpee with me to share with him. After that was Spitz with Justfunk and Tony. Then home to rest.

Crystal Agency..The beginning of my styling career..

I haven't been blogging my little outfits lately. School started and lots of things have been happening. I decided to start sharing with you my experiences as a Stylist Agency Intern and Assistant. I started at the Crystal Agency back in September and have been having a blast! I adore Crystal and all the artists at the agency. Crystal is extremely motivating and I have learned so much from her these past few months. I could not express how appreciative I am for her. =)

My interview with Crystal for the internship was an unconventional one. I met her at a photoshoot for a movie documentary (something to do with Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face). I thought she would ask me a bunch of questions and ask me why I should work for her but there was none of that. I got to watch the fashion stylist, makeup artist, photographer and the movie crew work their magic for a couple hours and Crystal asked me when I could start. =)

I've worked on a couple shoots which I will share with you all soon. Enjoy.

Tony sent me my 30 days set in the mail because we thought I wouldn't have enough things to do here but I've actually been pretty busy. I'm glad he sent it because it's fun to play with and a nice way to relax. So here's a new outfit, enjoy.

I really like this one...I want it to be human size so I can wear it. =P

JJ Mag!

I have been putting it off but picked up the August issue of JJ magazine the other day, some kind of Hawaii issue. It came with a fun little beach booklet inside-bikinis and shopping.

I love JJ. It's so sweet and sophisticated! I would be overly ecstatic to intern at a magazine like this. I need to learn how to speak Japanese first though...

Scarf Top

I don't know exactly where I was going with this; I did it while catching up and watching Family Feud with friends before leaving to SJ.

I tied the scarf asymmetrically for the top, some wide leg denim pants, and a grey terry cloth zip up hoodie; this seems like an outfit to run errands, something casual.

Beginning of 30 days

So I went to Anime Expo a couple weekends ago and picked up the 30 Days box set! Woohoo! I've been wanting the entire set since I visited Japan town in SF, where I first came upon them. I'm going to start posting the outfits I make. The set comes with 10 outfits (which can be mixed and matched) and 1 mannequin/bodice gal. These toys were made for me! I love them so much.

Here's a picture of the box and some outfits I made.

This first outfit is the polka dot dress with striped tank layered on top with some navy bermuda overalls underneath.

No more Elastic Waistbands

The fashion industry has started to realize that there is a growing number of overweight children so many of them are extending their lines to accommodate. It's a good thing that the industry is realizing there is a demand out there for plus size children and they are doing something about it. No one wants to hide under oversize t-shirts and elastic waistband pants. We should love our bodies the way they are and promote a healthy lifestyle. There are clothes out there made for everyone, we just have to look.
